Your post got me thinking of HPL, but si...Hi Ralph

Your post got me thinking of HPL, but sitting in a room crammed with some Arkham House books and a lot of pastiches as well as way too many pulps and too much science fiction my thoughts often head that way.
I met Norton, Bradbury, Heinlein Clarke and Asimov in the school library in Windsor. In grade 8 a friend introduced me to the Louie l'Amour, the south sea stories of Jack London and most importantly Lovecraft. Since then he has always been part of my life. The last couple of days t have been reading Dozois's most recent Year';s Best to see what the new writers are up to. But Lee's book on Astounding also led me into the past to read Asimov''s The Red Queen's Race, and to reread Heinlein's The Green Hills of Earth. And I have been rereading your Sherlock Holmes: Cthulhu Mythos Adventures, I think The Woods, The Watcher & The Warding is my favourite, I would not dream of reading it at the cabin. I do find it interesting that Lovecraft struck such a strong chord in so many people, there are so many stories and poems not to mention the beautiful art, games and assorted toys. I know my Golden Age (that I really experienced after it had actually passed), involves a lot of Heinlein juveniles from Scribners, Andre Norton's books with the beautiful Powers covers, pulps with covers by Frank R. Paul and Hubert Rogers and Virgil Finlay.. I may not experience anything like it again and it might be as mythical as Hesiod's but occasionally I can dip into some book or magazine on my shelves and feel a bit of it again.

All the best
Guy
Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12546069846136464138noreply@blogger.com
